The Bothell Arts Council was formed in 2001 by members of the community interested in implementing a diverse artworks program centered on the downtown core. Over the years the focus has broadened to include other areas of the city and to implement programs that encourage youth to participate in the visual arts.
The public art projects have been made possible by sponsors of fundraising activities such as LiveARTS Bothell, the Summits of Bothell bike ride and Main Street wine walks, grants from Bothell’s Tourism and Lodging Tax Program and 4Culture, as well as private contributions. Volunteers, in-kind donations from Bothell businesses and partnerships with local governmental agencies, have also assisted us.
The support of the community has produced sculptures, murals, decorative bike racks, wall art and student art projects. It has, in conjunction with other organizations, allowed us to put out a walking brochure featuring art and history walks in the city’s core. And it has financed student art programs and the establishment of an art scholarship for graduating art students in the Northshore School District.
